Yvelle Aukman is a space-fairing mercenary specializing in assassination and stealth ops. Currently operating as a lone wolf, she is traveling to the Locus Astra to start a new life and form new connections.

Appearance

Yvelle's most striking features are her purple mauve skin and orange eyes, followed by her sandy blonde hair. She stands at 5' 7" and has a lithe build.

Yvelle wears clothes typical for an Aurelian of her class: a yellow techwear jacket, loose pants, a harness, and belts with several carabiners.

History

Growing Up on the Eden Construct

Yvelle was born in the Mechinos class on Eden. Her mother, a Skoredem builder, died shortly after her birth in a construction accident. She never knew her.

Her father, Erdrick, was a prodigy at programming. Following the death of his wife, he became consumed by his work. He quickly rose in prominence, and his high-profile commissions afforded Yvelle a life far above typical Mechinos standards. Yvelle followed in his footsteps, and with his tutelage, became a talented programmer herself.

By age eight, Erdrick had received a sponsor from the Celestial Council; a woman named Reigna Sove. With her backing, Erdrick received a contract working on government projects, while Yvelle was keenly monitored by Reigna for her skills. In a way, Reigna became the mother she never had, becoming heavily involved in her life while her dad worked for days at a time without coming home.

Two years later, Erdrick tragically passed; a rebel attack, aiming to weaken the Council and Eden as a whole. The news devestated Yvelle, but with Reigna's guidance, channeled her grief into passion. Reigna's connections allowed Yvelle to study as a Cathebrum, learning the art of tracking, hunting, and technomancy to a degree few her age could master.

Yvelle was 15 when she encountered Eden's rebellion face-to-face. Ambushed alone, she thought they had come to kill her, just like they did her father, but something unexpected happened instead. They revealed the truth about her father's death: Erdrick had contacted them about the project he had been working on. After realizing the full scale of its effects, he tried to warn the rebellion of its capabilities, but was found and executed before he could deliver the news. Hurt, betrayal, and rage flooded Yvelle at the news. She immediately joined the rebels, abandoning her old life and using her skills against the very ones who cultivated them.

Yvelle became an infiltrator and invaluable resource to the rebellion. With her help, they managed to pull off several heists, most of which, however, did little to stall whatever plans the Celestial Council had in place. Her time among the rebels, however, did lend her a way to learn magic forbidden by Aurelian society.

Mercenary Work

Yvelle's anger burned hotly as the years passed. Dissatisfied with the slow march of progress made by the rebels, she left Eden, intent on gathering resources and influence to enact her vengeance sooner. Among the many odd-jobs the galaxy had to offer, she found most of her success with criminal gangs and black market vendors. Her history with the rebellion made her an ideal thief, eventually earning the alias Lightpick.

Yvelle mainly dealt with the Steel Eye syndicate, a paramilitary organization that mainly dealt in arms-dealing and hit jobs. While she never officially joined the syndicate, she was a familiar face to most with the amount of jobs she claimed from them. This is how she met Id'valle, a Nytheran bounty hunter who quickly became a favorite of hers. What started as mutual respect quickly grew into something more, and it wasn't long before they became more than partners in crime.

Their love was short lived. For the first time, the two failed a mission: assassinate a high-ranking member of a rival mafia. They had underestimated the difficulty and their target barely escaped. To cover their tracks, the Steel Eye syndicate burned them. The two were caught in an ambush by their employer, one which Id'valle would not escape from. Yvelle was forced to leave him behind.

Yvelle now stalks the shadows as a wanted woman. Both the authorities and many underworld denizens know of her deeds. But she will not give up, not while her father's killer is still alive, not while Id'valle's death is still in vain. She will rebuild what she has lost, and that starts with a new contact; one that has invited her on an expedition to the Locus Astra.

Personality

Yvelle is an extremely guarded woman, and always has a mask up to hide what she truly feels. On the surface, she's friendly and helpful, building connections that she will exploit to the fullest. She'll act like your friend, ask for a favor, and toss you aside when all your potential is used up.

Beneath the mask, however, Yvelle is incredibly broken. Most of her life has been defined by loss and burning revenge, and she has not taken the time to properly grieve and process the emotions swirling inside her mind.
