"My light will shine the brightest!" — Mara

Mara is a silly Nythera who acts as the Magical Expert aboard the ship of Polaris Intergalactic Shipping Services. A former outcast on Elyndra due to her complex relationship with Magic she has decided to live the rest of her life in love with the world, bumbling around learning all the magic she can!

Appearance

"The scars are beautiful right?"

Mara is 6'6 with a purple body accented Yellow. Her facial wings are purple and pink, sporting cracks throughout them as if they were melded together. Her entire body is riddled with scars and stitches, with her arms and legs having the most scars and her chest having the largest one.

Early Life and Learning Fear

"I don't want to die..."

Mara began life on Elyndra with a whimsical outlook on life. She loved Magic and she loved to learn. A sort of prodigy among her peers she was masterful at her craft in her early years. Life was beautiful and it was a true gift that she could exist with this love in her. However, this changed when she began to truly see the limits of her mortality. She saw her mentors, her friends, her family, fall be taken by the Serglige and realized the fear of losing this beautiful life. She was angry, "If this magic is what will kill me then I'm better off without it!" She disconnected the strings of magic that were connected to her body to stop her from being able to use magic and decided to work on a mechanical suit that could do all of her bodily functions for her.

Wearing The Suit

"Even if I lose my magic, at least I'll keep my life."

Mara was really smart you see, if she put her mind to it she could go into multiple fields. So when she started her work on the suit it was a long but fruitful process. Creating a thumper to beat her heart, mechanical arms to remove any grown membranes and then extra arms to sow up the wounds created from the removal, it was truly a marvel in engineering. She lived like that for years. Slowly losing her love for life, disappointing those around her and basically exiling herself from her own culture. Yet she didn't care, as long as she could live another day she didn't care. But part of her began to think, was this what she wanted?

Removal and Joining P.I.S.S

"I was alive and yet I was not truly living"

The day was important it was her birthday! A birthday that most Nythera have never reached. All those who she knew in her young days have passed from the Serglige but she was still alive, they said she was crazy, a fool for making this machine but she was RIGHT. At least that's what she had hoped to feel on this day but, she was just empty. She realized that this was never the life she wanted to live, she loves magic and she needs it to truly love this world. She broke down realizing that there is no life worth living if she cannot be herself truly and decides to rip the suit out of her body. Her arms and legs maimed by the extraction. In her manic state Mara took her talons and shoved them into her chest, ripping out the thumper on her heart. Finally, she used the string of magic that she could not cut, the string in her soul, to cast a spell once more. First a spell of light, and second a minor healing spell to maybe stabilize her.

Lucky for Mara she had ordered a package from Polaris Intergalactic Shipping Services and it was set to arrive today. Meaning when Mara was bleeding out on her floor, Amaranth, the "doctor" of P.I.S.S while delivering her package was able to find Mara in time and stabilize her. Now awake Mara had come to realize that the excess of magic that was poured into her body drove her mad. But she was okay with that, as she could finally show her love for the world through magic.

When it was time for Mara to be discharged she had realized she took a liking to the crew of P.I.S.S and decided she would hitch a ride in the vents! After a month or everyone sort of acted as if it was normal so Mara came out of the vents and was formally welcomed into Polaris. A new place to call home and a new chapter of her life. One she decided she will truly live.

Personality

"I'm a bundle of joy!!"

Mara is very silly, she is high energy, sometimes airheaded, and very flippant about most things. She does not that stable of a mind but she will most of the time is friendly and fun!

Relationships

Cassandra Bombyx

"Her luck is like Magic!"

Leader of P.I.S.S, Cassandra is "technically" Mara's boss but really she's one of her bestest friends in the whole wide world! Mara and Cassandra both enjoy enjoy magic and the occasional drink(although Cass likes the latter MUCH more) they both bond on traversing the stars!

Amaranth Hale

"The Goo That Saved Me!!!"

The "Doctor" of P.I.S.S although they insist they are not actually a doctor they sure patched Mara up good enough so in her eyes Amaranth is 'Doc'. Amaranth is usually the one entertaining Mara's silly exploits since they are too friendly to tell her off(not that Mara listens when others do :p) so they bond through silly shenanigans!

Enmo Fempto

"The Goo That Hears It Too!"

The Mechanic of P.I.S.S he is usually the one yelling at Mara for rummaging in the vents. To Mara they are the one that "chases" her when she wants to run around and she finds bothering him as a great activity to do when bored. Furthermore, Enmo says that he can hear voices which makes Mara very happy as she thought only she could hear the voices, although they say it's not the same, she still feels a sense of camaraderie from it.
