Isabella Rollabee is an Mechinos Aurelian raised on Virilune. Isabella behaves incredibly cocky, but despite this cares deeply for everyone in her life, willing to risk it all to protect those she loves. After her parents died while on Chitara, Isabella became a thief for an entity known as Penumbra. During her thievery, she gained experience in intense parkour and combat. Isabella was sent on the mission to Locus Astra as apart of her work for Penumbra, although she is unsure of what exactly she is here for.

Appearance

"I'd forget my own ass if it wasn't so large. Hah! Made you look! It's normal!"

Isabella has natural light-grey hair and two horns extruding from her head. Her fair skin shows plenty of wounds and scars, with her Mechinos markings sprawled along her backside.

She commonly wears her 'Ethereal Thief' outfit, a set of clothing consisting of spandex and traditional cloth. Her top leaves her left arm exposed, showcasing her previous battle scars while her right arm is completely covered - topped off with a gloved hand. Straps around her body compliment the look, providing no tactical advantage whatsoever.

Under her clothes, Isabella's body is riddled with wounds - the origins unknown.

History

"I hope mom and dad would forgive me if they knew what I've done."

Isabella has had a troubled past, being left by her birth parents on The Eden Construct and being adopted by two Canari. Losing those adopted parents sent her down a path of thievery and murder, eventually landing her at Locus Astra.

Early Life

Isabella was born on The Eden Construct to parents she does not know (nor care to know), as they left her soon after birth. Two Canari, Haro and Miar Rollabee, adopted the baby Aurelian while on tours of other planets.

She was then raised on Virilune, being an only child until she was 4 years old; when her parents had a Canari of their own, Luvae. Isabella grew up learning farming from her father and helping her mother around the R'avant market whenever she could. As for Luvae, she grew up protecting him as much as she could, always loving being around her Canari brother. Isabella loved Virllune, a home for her that she never wanted to leave.

This idea of never wanting to leave however was constantly trampled over, as Haro, Miar, and especially Luvae all loved to travel.

Death of the Family

When Isabella was 11 years old, on a trip to Chitara, Haro and Miar died of medical issues. No foul play was suspected, the two seemed to die together of heart issues. As she watched both of her parents load into a vehicle, Isabella clung onto a howling and sobbing Luvae, re-assuring him that everything would be fine.

That night, as Luvae slept, a man approached a stressed Isabella, their name was Penumbra. Penumbra offered Isabella a deal; act as a thief for them and they can provide food, water, and shelter for her and Luvae. Without a breath, Isabella accepted the deal on the condition that Luvae was allowed to have those amenities that night.

As Isabella watched Luvae curled up in the bed, tear stains on the pillow, she walked over to Penumbra and grimaced, asking what she had to do.

Life of the Thief

As a thief, Isabella was rewarded for fulfilling contracts given to her by Penumbra, however as she became more adept art thievery she began to steal for her own gain and others on the street. During her heists, she had three notable incidents; where she would steal something, be caught, and would unfortunately come into contact with them later in her life on Locus Astra.

Who might you be?

During her break after stealing Penumbra some "stupid gem", she saw a lone Chitaran sitting on a curb. The sight was familiar to her so she approached the kid. The two began talking and soon became friends on account of how they shared similar issues of wanting to provide for their sibling. Isabella would soon grow to be best friends with Ray, the two constantly hanging around one another.

They were inseparable, to the point where Ray felt like another brother to Isabella. Ray and Isabella would work together on petty thefts, with sometimes Isabella recruiting him to assist with big scores for Penumbra. Isabella became apart of Ray's larger group whilst still working on her own.

Maya Sherazi

[THE FOLLOWING IS A RECREATION OF THE EVENTS THAT TRANSPIRED]

Isabella ducked under a table and scurried under it that hid her from passerby. As footsteps walked past her, Isabella dove into the office. It smelt of someone who was obviously in this room way too often, which didn't concern her at all. She cracked a window and began looking for medical supplies, Luvae had hurt himself bad and she didn't want to be in debt even more to Penumbra.

As Isabella snatched first-aid kits and pills, Maya Sherazi was approaching her office. Her ears twitched at the sound of someone inside, unauthorized. As she opened the door, Maya saw a young Aurelian with one foot out the window, holding a collection of medical supplies with some papers.

"...EXCUSE YOU?!" The doctor called out to the thief.

After a couple of seconds while Maya analyzed her face and threw a clipboard at her, Isabella leapt out of the window. Maya ran to the window and watched her run, in sheer confusion as she just sighed and catalogued a couple of medical supplies missing. It didn't concern her completely; obviously the girl needed it. She started to collect her papers that were scattered; page 39, 40, 42. Wait, 42? Where was 41? And where the hell was page 56 as well?! Maya began to tear up the room even further, where the hell were these papers?!

As Isabella ran fast and far she threw away the random pages stuck to her medical supplies. 41, 56, and page 3.

Maya Sherazi wouldn't find out until many stressed induced weeks later.

Caine

[THE FOLLOWING IS A RECREATION OF THE EVENTS THAT TRANSPIRED]

Isabella watched as the blacksmith waved out another customer, sighing as they took a rest on a chair nearby. She crept around, looking at what was available to steal. This time she was stealing for herself, looking for something to pawn off for money that she could claim to her own. Isabella looked at Caine and it appeared to her that they were sleeping, prime time to snag something.

As she slowly slithered her way into the shop she saw a pristine mask, one perfect for any regal event. It was glamorous, shining in the light of the forge fire. Without a second thought, Isabella grabbed the mask and put it in her bag, a perfect heist and they didn't even know it happened.

"Hey. Put that back." The blacksmith's words cut through the deafening silence like a knife through a wretched heart.

Isabella jumped a little bit at the sudden words before booking it out of the store, running and darting through every alley. If they had been that silent watching her who knows how fast they were running to catch her?!

Caine was still seated, shoving their face into their hands as they calculated the losses from the mask. It was a commission AND a rush job, so they were going to have a very angry customer and have to deal with being exhausted after an all-nighter.

Purgatory of the Imprisoned

Isabella had been on a job for herself, completely drunk out of her mind. She was angry, upset, and not in her normal head space. What she was angry for she couldn't remember, all she knew was there was a bag of cash on her back and blood on her face. As she staggered through the alleyway lights turned on her, blinding the thief to the point where she lost all semblance of where she was. As police agents stomped towards her, they snatched the bag from her bag and shoved her to the ground.

As Isabella was thrown into the vehicle and drove off to the Chitaran prison, she festered in blood that wasn't hers and wiped it off onto the ground. As she was imprisoned for theft and potential murder, Isabella fell asleep in her cell. When she awoke with the pounding headache she deserved she looked around, realizing how much shit she was in now.

While in prison, Isabella refined her combative skills by continuously winning prison fights, even with odds stacked against her. After what felt like years but was close to a few months, Isabella was set free. Her sentence was far from over and she wasn't even sure if she had bail; but as she left Isabella looked up at Penumbra who stared down at her in disappointment. The two walked out of the prison as Penumbra stopped suddenly, looking back at their little rat.

Penumbra spoke to Isabella about how much this cost to get her out, what they had to do, and how she had not done any work for them at all. Much to her appreciation, Penumbra continued to make sure Luvae was okay and thriving - away from the dirty deeds Isabella had to do to make sure he was okay. Penumbra then spoke of repayment, a job that would not only repay the entire prison episode but also ensure any and all future funds for the two siblings. They even spoke of Isabella never having to work for them again.

Isabella clenched her fist, grinned, and put out her other hand.

"You act like I'd ever say no to that. So, what's the job?"

Penumbra pointed to the stars, the Nullstar, and spoke calmly: "Locus Astra. You're going there, my little rodent."

Locus Astra

Landing Day

"I'm Isabella. Well, Isabella Rollabee is my full name. Sorry." - Isabella to Aria

Isabella landed from the pod, illegally of course, and sneaked her way around unto The Anchor, looking around before deciding to go out on her own. She ventured West of The Anchor, grabbing materials and Andesite for one Mercutio. She encountered Euna and spoke about how she was friends with Ray years ago and let Euna know she would be there to protect her. During her mining, Aris, Sherazi, and Hyacinth approached Isabella and she was stopped for a database scan by Aris and their AI, Aria.

Aria determined Isabella to have a severe criminal record, involving murder, theft, and drug-distribution. Isabella fought the claims of the last one, but Aris remained adamant that the ruling had to be correct; all the while Isabella hid behind a lemon bush from the gaze of Sherazi. Aris then commanded Isabella to follow them to The Anchor to help with some work. As they walked Isabella talked to Sherazi about the past incident, in which Sherazi forgave her just enough to not be murdered by the officer.

Isabella worked for Aris for hours, helping wash supplies to sterilize medical equipment and help prepare food for Pathfinders. After a bit, she left East to build her own abode. But before she could leave, Penumbra appeared right before her tracks; forcing a conversation between the two. Isabella expressed how she assumed Pem wouldn't be on Locus Astra, how she thought they were done, how scared she was as she saw them for the first time in what felt like forever. After their talk, Isabella ran East until she found a beach side that she wished was her home with Luvae, away from everything. Where she wasn't a criminal, where she didn't belong to anyone, where she loved someone. She cried in her shoddy shack until her stomach growled, forcing Isabella back to The Anchor.

As she walked back, a new person was getting a little too close to Euna, so Isabella intervened and promptly punched him in the stomach. As Isabella told Euna to back up she heard those familiar grunts of pain, it was none other than Ray. After a long-needed hug between the two, they caught up and Isabella learned that Ray (now called Delta) had blown up the Chitaran prison both had been ensnared in previously. Saying goodbye, Isabella then went further East, curious of what lie beyond the sprawling mesa.

Reaching the mountains, Isabella encountered a large supply of iron; much to her excitement. While mining, a voice from above commanded her to halt her harvest, informing her that the area belonged to the Council, the Perils of Fortuna. Panicking, Isabella apologized profusely and handed over the iron she harvested, introducing herself to Lerinov. From him, Isabella was given a brief tour of the property and how impressive it was. After being introduced, Isabella put her hands in her pockets and felt something she'd ignored for a while; the amulet she stole almost a decade or so ago. She felt the piece as she looked up at the Canari, handed it to him, and went back to the Anchor to fall asleep in the Inn.

Personality

Isabella is a cocky individual, always challenging and expecting herself to triumph at every obstacle. Despite her cockiness, she's able to understand her limits and rarely underestimates friends and foes alike. Despite her overall cockiness, Isabella has nothing but absolute care and admiration for everyone in her life. Once she knows you're someone who can not only be trusted, but you appreciate those around you she is as upbeat as her brother is.

One of her main philosophies is that in a life or death situation, if you truly value your life you will endure and go through anything to stay alive. The same goes for saving those you love, one who truly loves another should be able to do anything in their power to protect them.

"I don't want a brother! B-Because you guys won't love me anymore!" - 4 year old Isabella

"Oh whoa you're askin' about everyone huh? Well, Haro and Miar are...were my adopted parents. They're the only parents I know, they saved me from living as an orphan on The Eden Construct and raised me on Virilune. They never treated me differently but didn't try and make me act Canari, does that make sense? Then when Luvae came around, their real child who was really theirs...they never treated me differently or worse. I always thought Luvae was going to replace me, I mean I was the adopted kid who they got out of fear of infertility for fucks sake. But, I was wrong; Miar and Haro...mom and dad...they didn't do any of that. They kept treating me the same, kept loving me, and that's when I realized that they really were my parents. I don't give a fuck about my birth parents, they left me and they'll never be close to Haro and Miar."

"I miss them everyday, they were the best parents ever. Pem had them buried on Virilune, but Luvae and I haven't been able to visit. One day we'll pay respects, just as soon as I'm done. Love you guys."

"Luvae is the reason I'm doing anything, he's my little brother and he's been through so much. When you're six years old and both of your parents are gone when you're not home...shit I might cry hah. I hope he's doin' alright on Chitara, Penumbra should be watching over him at least. Before I left for Locus Astra I told him that he has to be on his own now, and even if he's as old as he is now I don't think he ever got comfortable being alone; chalk it up to him bein' a Canari I guess. O-Oh shit was that racist? I didn't mean it like that, j-just that I know Canari don't like solitude, I promise."

"A-Anyways, me and Luvae are good with each other, we don't fight that often and he's probably the kindest spirit you'd ever meet. I swear, sometimes I think he views the world as all sunshine and rainbows...and it's sweet how he tries to help me see it like that too. He wants to go to this 'academy' and he's studying so hard, when I get back I want to get him there."

"Uhm...well, Pem is...they're, someone alright. Basically my caretaker at this point but also my boss? I steal for them and in return they provide the basic necessities for me and Luvae, I guess. Look, I don't love talking about Pem that much, they call me a rat. Or is it a mouse? I-It's a rodent okay?! I'm called a rodent by them!..which makes sense but still, c'mon."

"They're not that scary though, I know they look like they can eviscerate you with one bad look but they're not like that. I...like Pem, and Luvae called them Dad one time so, there's that."

"Oh-ho-ho SHIT! Ray is my favorite guy ever! When I was starting my life on Chitara he was the first, er, second guy I met! This is like, THE childhood friend of all time, we hung out basically everyday. He's kinda a different version of me and Luv, he's the younger brother but he's doing most of the work to keep him and Euna alive. Ray is probably the greatest guy you can ever be friends with, he knows how to get shit done and understands my core belief; you're not fighting for what, you gotta fight for who. It...it sounds better when I ask, like "Oh what do you fight for?" and t-the guy responds "It's not what, it's who!" and I'm like "whoaaa that's what I think!"...I derailed this enough; Ray is the best."

"When I got imprisoned all I could think of was seeing him and Luvae, but when I got out finally I saw Ray get arrested. Fuck...what I'd give to see him again. I hope he knows I was looking for him after I got out...I promise I'll look after Euna, she's safe under me man."

"As much as I resent authority, I can see why Aris needs to be here. They seem to have some AI called 'Aria' that's able to access databases, which they accused me of theft (true), murder (true), and drug usage/deliveries (FALSE!!!). Of course I fought that last claim, but I ended up doing chores for them for most of my first day. At the end, I realized they're just looking out for everyone and just making sure those who are known to be dangerous are in check, so I can't blame 'em. They're pretty cool, hope we can work together. (Opinion: Friendly)

"Uh...about a decade ago I stole some medical supplies from this lady. She was one of the few to ever see my face, and even fewer to throw something at me. I never went back to that sphere again after that day so I thought I'd never see her again. Imagine my surprise when she and Aris showed up and I had to look at her, the perfect witness, and I saw her go light on me. That meant a lot, I could've been gone on the spot and everything would've been worthless. I definitely need to do something to make up for the fact I stole those supplies and the fact she went easy on me."

"The whole group? I barely got to speak with them but they all seem focused; which I respect. It's interesting how each of them interact and they seem like a giant family, I hope I can help them out sometime with whatever. Luvae always told me that I'm too "alone" and "it's sad" so, maybe I should see if I can stick with this group? Probably not though, seems they've got plenty of extra hands haha." Lerinov

"This amulet I have...it really matches the color of that feather on your mask."

"Lerinov is so sweet, I half-expected him to shove me off the mountain when he caught me mining on the Perils' area. But instead he talked to me and informed me, which meant a lot. We talked and he showed me around the place, but something was unique about this guy. Maybe it was because he was another Canari and I got reminded of Luvae or maybe it was the feather on his mask; but it reminded me of the amulet I stole for Pem years ago. Pem told me to hold onto it but it's been so long I doubt that we need it anymore, so I handed it off to them. The color of it fit his feather so well, I just had to give it to him. When I handed it to Lerinov, they seemed stunned for a second and I left shortly after. I assume it was so thoughtful they didn't know how to respond; they were pretty cute standing there."
