"Friends of space, how are you all? Have you eaten yet? Come visit us if you have time." — recovered Old Aurelion record
AURELION IS NOT SYNONYMOUS WITH EARTH, AND IS A FICTIONAL PLANET. IT IS NOT EARTH.
Aurelion, often referred to in the modern era as Old Aurelion, was the original homeworld of humanity and one of the many worlds that fell during the cosmic event known as the Convergence.
Unlike ordinary planets, Aurelion possessed an extraordinary connection to the arcane, through an entity embedded within its core: The Heart Below. For centuries, humanity exploited this entity as a near-limitless source of energy, fueling a golden age of technological and magical advancement.
When the Convergence occurred in 2005 O.A., Aurelion became unstable in catastrophic ways. Though not destroyed in the conventional sense of the word, the planet was rendered inaccessible, fractured by severe distortions in space and reality.
Attempts to journey to Aurelion have been hindered by the intense energy storm within which its fragments are contained. Although independent agencies, largely Aurelians seeking their ancestors’ homeworld, continue to investigate and study from afar, very little progress has been made towards understanding or uncovering more of the lost planet. World governments across the known universe have largely ceased officially sanctioning investigations and expeditions towards Aurelion.
However, Aurelion retains almost mythical status as the birthplace of humanity, the site of the Heart Below, and one of the first worlds to experience The Convergence. Its loss forever transformed the course of intergalactic history.
