Iridescent, called Iridi by most people, is an ex-member of Order of Luminaries, a cult known to worship Nullstar. Not much is known about this fringe cult to most people, as members of the cult often live in communes around areas that have recently been passed the Nullstorm. Sects of the cult sometimes enter spheres to accomplish goals in accordance the orders of the Luminant One. One such sect is the one Iridi comes from, The ultimate goal of this sect was to bring about a new constellation by bringing about illumination, which was believed by the cult to be the ultimate form of magic and would bring the cult one step closer to understanding the true nature of the Nullstar.

Appearance

Iridi is a somewhat short, 5'8'', Aurelion with some strange striking physical traits, such as his iridescent horns, his clawed hands, and his blood red eyes. If you were to ask Iridi about these traits, he would say he was in the way the Nullstar wanted him to be, but in reality it's mostly due to his genetics being hand edited by the Radiants of the cult. He is a mix of previous children of light, the Radiants themselves, and other geniuses all across universe.

History

Iridescent, fell to Eden on a meteor. It was said by the Radiants the his arrival was foretold by the Nullstar, that he was it's gift to the cult and would secure their future. His arrival brought joy and jubilance to common people of the cult. He was genius that took leaps towards Illumination from a very young age, the Radiants of the sect praised his efforts and he was loved within the cult. Iridi loved his position within the cult and he loved the people of the cult. To Iridi the Radiants were like parental figures that guided his morals and shaped his world view.

While the Radiants can be blamed for some of Iridi's strange personality traits, most are truly who he is. People would often catch Iridi sneaking out, he would enter the large nomadic cities of Eden and break and enter into the tallest buildings to go the top of them. Security guards would find him at the top of the skyscrapers staring out towards, what he said, was the direction of the Nullstar. When the Radiants asked him how he knew that was the direction of Nullstar, Iridi would answered, "It told me." he was right every time.

At the age of ████████ █████████████ █████ ███ ████ █████ ██ ███ ████ ██████ ██ ███ █████ ███ ██ ███ █████████ ██ ████ ████████ ██ ███ ███████ ██ ████ ███ ███ █████ ██ ████ ███ █████████ ███ ██████ ██ █████ ███ ████ ███ ███ ██ █████ ███ █████ they placed a powerful curse on him. Iridi then had to created a sigil to help manage the curse, the combination of the curse and maintaining the sigil leave him unable to use magic and it makes it so magic, in any form, hurts him.

The loss of the cult left Iridi devastated and roaming Eden, it was there Iridi met his best friend and intergalactic chauffeur, Sonya Steele and her merry band of pirates. Eventually Iridi found his way to Singulon Academy for Prestigious Boys and Girls, where he found his life long friends and future council members. Now Iridi finds himself on Locus Astra with the primary goal of finally breaking free of the curse and regaining his magical power.

Early Life

His entire childhood was spend within the large commune of the cult. But things on Eden moved often so Iridi would find himself in a new environment every 5-6 years as the commune moved to a new area for various reasons. Iridi was raised as a child of light, along with 8 others. These children were all geniuses made by the Radiants in order to reach illumination, past children of light made contributions towards a central unified theory that current children of light built upon. Most children of light stayed in the cult and worked on Illumination until the their late 20s to early 30s, at that point they would all leave the commune to go spread their knowledge to other sect's across the universe. While all children of light were beloved and treated with great respect, Iridi was even more pampered by the people. This fostered some jealousy in the other children of light, especially the older ones. So this left Iridi isolated from what were supposed to be his siblings, instead he found company in the common folk of the cult

There was one girl especially, Iridi would call his best friend. Iridi loved her sense of adventure, and she challenged his views in a way he never would've thought about. One day the Radiants found out about their friendship, and she was sent on a "pilgrimage", it wasn't until much later Iridi found out what really happened to her.

Iridi also snuck out, somethings his siblings would never risk to do. He would often use his connections and his wit to leave the commune grounds and venture out to Eden. On several occasions he got pretty far from the commune. Any time the Radiants would find him he would say the same thing, that the Nullstar was pulling him in a direction, that he had received some kind of premonition that he needed to investigate. The Radiants stopped questioning him and let him do it after the first time it happened, since he was able to successfully point in the direction of the Nullstorm, despite never being told where it was or even what the Nullstorm was.

Iridi's impact site was a historical site for the sect, the people would often return to the site when Iridi would accomplish great things to celebrate him. Many years after when the cult was long gone, Iridi returned the site alone and did his own analysis. What he found is evidence of the use of explosives, of digging equipment and no record of any locals of a meteor or impact, only people saying they heard explosives going off in the area. In truth Iridi was a genetically engineered baby, a mix of previous children of light, the Radiants themselves, and other geniuses all across universe. An attempt by the Radiants to reach Illumination.

Illumination

Not many people know what Illumination is. The common folk of the cult where told that Illumination was one step on the grand journey to understanding the Nullstar. The Radiants and Children of Light understood that Illumination of the forging of the new constellation of magic.

The Nullstar is understood to stabilize the magic around the spheres. It is theorized by the cult that this stabilizing force acts a field over the unstable field of magic. This stabilizing force exerts absolute control over the that magic field, and being able miniplate that field would allow for the most raw control over magical power.

Early children of light proved that doing so was possible, and subsequent children of light built upon the theory. They found the most functional use of this theory was to evict an area of all magic, forcing all that energy to reappear as photons. Causing a massive burst of energy and a blinding white light that mimics the energy and unreadability of the Nullstar. This was inherently uncontrollable and many children of light lost their lives trying to refine this type of magic.

Iridi intuitive understanding of magic and proclaimed connection to Nullstar allowed him to turn these dangerous explosions in to a system of usable magic. Iridi first invented a method to create a microscopic point completely void of magic, these allowed for much more controlled explosions and creation of high energy photons.

Iridi then created a way to use magic around the high energy photon to where he wanted them to go. Essentially creating a path of least resistance for the photon to follow. Visually these look beams of light until they hit something, where they release their blinding white light.

Finally Iridi created a series of sigils, which create different beams of light, to serve many different purposes, but they all follow the same principal.

Ubi lux periit

After Iridi reached the final stages of illumination, there was constant celebration through the cult. Even the Radiants partook in in the celebrations. For Iridi, there was no greater joy, he thought that his would be a turning point in the cult. In his mind he could use this new powers of his to pull even more people to follow the Nullstar and secure the future of the Order of Luminaries.

The Radiants lay dead in front of him, the hallowed corpses thousands in the chamber around him. His so called siblings had mostly all died from the conflict, every person he had known every face he had seen, every smile he had shared had ceased to exist. His magical circuits extremely unstable and a young Iridi had to drag himself through the ruins of his home and scrounge for materials. Eventually he was able to construct a sigil to help manage this curse. But this left him unable to use any form of magic. The curse did not strip him of his magic, it made it extremely unstable, and the sigil essentially drains that magic and turns focuses it throughout his body. He is unable to use magic and and all injection of magic into his body causes him pain.
