This page serves as an out of character resource to detail Origins effects by species.
These origins are custom made (thank you Cristi) and are meant to be relatively low-impact while also providing small gameplay perks for characters of different species.
You should not choose to play a species purely for the gameplay bonus. We aim to simply make the origins reflect the writing that's been done for the species, rather than make them especially influential to gameplay. This is the reason species origins were not released until after the Lobby has been opened.
When selecting an origin, please pick the correct origin for your character's species.
Abyssal
- Water Breathing: You can breathe underwater.
- Fast Swimmer: Your swim speed is faster than average.
- Underwater Mining: You can break blocks underwater at a normal speed.
- Adapted Eyes: You can see clearly in darkness, but you’re blinded in light levels above 9.
- Disorienting Growl (active ability): Grant all entities within 8 blocks darkness for 1 minute. 3 minute cooldown.
Androids
- Long Arms: Your block reach increases by 1.
- Long Legs: You have slightly increased step height.
- Tough: You have slightly increased armor toughness.
- Water Breathing: You can breathe underwater.
- Lightning Weakness: You take increased lightning damage.
- Overdrive (active ability): Grant yourself speed and haste for 2 minutes, but you get mining fatigue for 30 seconds afterwards. 7 minute cooldown.
Aurelians
- Efficient Mining: You can break blocks quicker
- Long Arms: Your block reach increases by 1
- Low Gravity: You gain Jump Boost during nighttime.
- Diplomatic: Villagers offer discounted trade prices.
- Magic Weakness: You take increased magic damage.
- Indomitable (active ability): Grant yourself 4 extra hearts for 1 minute. 5 minute cooldown.
Caelune
- Speedy: You’re slightly faster than average.
- Strong Legs: You can jump higher.
- High Altitude: You gain a small attack speed increase while at y level 100 or above.
- Claustrophobic: You gain slowness while underground.
- Winged: You gain toggleable slow fall.
- Launch (active ability): Jump up 10 blocks. 25 second cooldown.
Canari
- Speedy: You’re slightly faster than average.
- Efficient Mining: You can break blocks quicker.
- Handy Claws: While crouching and not holding anything in your hand, you can right click dirt and grass to turn it into farmland.
- Bountiful Harvest: Crops yield extra resources.
- Exhaustion: You require food more frequently.
- Howl (active ability): All players within 12 blocks of you gain strength for 1 minute. 3 minute cooldown.
Carcids
- Resilient Body: You have a small armor bonus.
- Dense Body: You take less knockback.
- Rock Breaker: You can mine stone without needing tools.
- Large Lungs: You can breathe underwater for a slightly longer period of time.
- Sensitive Eyes: You’re blinded in light levels above 9.
- Fortify (active ability): You grant yourself Turtle Master for 1 minute and 30 seconds. 5 minute cooldown.
Cervari
- Long Legs: You can slightly increased step height.
- Shove: You deal increased knockback with attacks.
- Dense Body: You take less knockback.
- Scatter: You gain a 5 second speed boost when attacked.
- Exhaustion: You require food more frequently.
- Ground Slam (active ability): Slam into the ground, dealing 10 damage and knocking back entities in a 6 block radius. 2 minute cooldown.
Dracoliths
- Fire Resistance: You take decreased damage from fire and lava.
- Underground Affinity: You are faster while underground.
- Resilient Body: You are granted a small armor bonus.
- Flint and Steel Claws: While crouching, you can right click the ground with an empty hand to ignite the block you’re looking at.
- Humidity Aversion: You deal less damage while wet or in cold biomes.
- Fire Immunity (active ability): Grant yourself immunity to fire and lava for 1 minute. 5 minute cooldown.
Felari
- Fall Resistance: You take decreased fall damage.
- Strong Legs: You can jump higher.
- Darksight: You can see clearly during nighttime and in dark areas.
- Frightening Presence: You scare away phantoms and creepers.
- Water Weakness: You become slower and weaker while in water.
- Adrenaline Sprint (active ability): You gain Speed 2 for 30 seconds. 3 minute cooldown.
Ferrans
- Resilient Body: You gain a small armor bonus.
- Efficient Mining: You can break blocks quicker.
- Dense Body: You take less knockback.
- Slow: You walk and run slower than average.
- Magnetism: You can toggle increased item pickup range.
- Harden (Active ability): Harden your body, granting you resistance for 30 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
Gelum
- Fall Resistance: You take decreased fall damage.
- Strong Legs: You can jump higher.
- Dense Body: You take less knockback.
- No Slowdown: You can’t be slowed down by blocks.
- Slow: You walk and run slower than average.
- Bounce (active ability): Jump up 6 blocks. 20 second cooldown.
Hydrans
- Water Breathing: You can breathe underwater.
- Fast Swimmer: Your swim speed is faster than average.
- Resilient Body: Your body is naturally reinforced, granting you a small armor bonus.
- Healing Water: You have regeneration in water.
- Fire Weakness: You take increased damage from fire and lava.
- Conduit Power (active ability): Grant conduit power and dolphin’s grace to yourself and players within an 8 block radius for 5 minutes. 7 minute cooldown.
Lagorans
- Lucky: You have slightly increased luck.
- Efficient Mining: You can break blocks quicker.
- Scatter: You gain a 5 second speed boost when attacked.
- Jump Boost: You can toggle a jump boost effect on and off.
- Underground Dweller: You take increased damage when above y-level 70.
- Evasion (active ability): Dodge all incoming damage for 2 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
Lepterans
- Shock Absorbers: You can fall a slightly bigger distance before taking fall damage.
- Underground Affinity: You are faster while underground.
- Clawed: While crouching you can climb walls.
- Darksight: You can see clearly during nighttime and in dark areas.
- Heat Aversion: Being in arid biomes slows you down.
- Fight or Flight (active ability): Grant yourself speed and increased knockback for 1 minute. 6 minute cooldown.
Nythera
- Fast Crouch: You can move slightly faster while crouching.
- More Experience: You gain more experience.
- Darksight: You can see clearly during nighttime and in dark areas.
- Sneaky: While crouching, you’re ignored by entities unless you attack them.
- Heat Aversion: Being in arid biomes slows you down.
- String Shot (active ability): Shoot a projectile that places a cobweb where it lands. 1 minute cooldown.
Solisers
- Strong: You deal an extra point of damage.
- Heated Claws: You gain a small attack speed increase while in the sun.
- Darksight: You can see clearly during nighttime and in darkness.
- Healing Sand: You have regeneration while standing on sand.
- Needs Sun: You have mining fatigue while not in direct sunlight.
- Empowering Roar (active ability): Grant strength to yourself and all players within a 16 block radius for 1 minute. 3 minute cooldown.
Sonyx
- Strong: You deal an extra point of damage.
- Strong Legs: You can jump higher.
- Darksight: You can see clearly during nighttime and in dark areas.
- Winged: You gain toggleable slow fall.
- Frail: You gain weakness while below 8hp or while in the sun.
- Echolocation (active ability): Highlight entities around you for 1 minute. 6 minute cooldown.
Sylthae
- Nature Affinity: You are faster while in forests.
- Large Lungs: You can breathe underwater for a slightly longer period of time.
- Natural Bonemeal: While crouching and with an empty hand, you can right-click on crops to bonemeal them.
- Sun Healing: You gain Regeneration while standing in sunlight.
- Vegetarian: You can’t eat meat.
- Nature’s Aura (active ability): Cause crops near you to grow for 1 minute. 8 minute cooldown.
Sylvans
- Agile Arms: Your attack speed is increased slightly.
- Healthy Eating: You gain more saturation from the food you eat.
- Jump Boost: You can toggle a jump boost effect on and off.
- Nature Affinity: You are faster while in forests.
- Low on Nutrients: When you are below 5 bars of hunger, you are slower.
- Cleansing Roar (active ability): Highlight all players in an 8 block radius and clear all status effects they have. 5 minute cooldown.
Thalassans
- Water Breathing: You can breathe underwater.
- Fast Swimmer: Your swim speed is faster than average.
- Underwater Mining: You can break blocks underwater at a normal speed.
- Strong: You deal an extra point of damage.
- Water Affinity: You gain strength while wet.
- Heat Aversion: Being in arid biomes slows you down.
- Dash (active ability): You’re able to quickly dash in the direction you’re looking at while wet. 20 second cooldown.
