"Those who want powder don't deserve it, and those who deserve it don't want it. Those who need it will burn everything down to get it." — Xeroc

Xeroc is one of the Four Perils of Fortuna, and is very stern on his... everything. Most known for his "deconstruction" of a smaller ferran government, and her influence in protesting efforts around Singulon, he has gained a reputation as a sort of political snowball in whatever cause they're fighting for. Any felonies they has committed were under jurisdiction that no longer exists, so outside of arson, there aren't any crimes he can be convicted of.

Appearance

"Yes it is real and it will burn you. Please don't."

Xeroc stands at a nice 6'4" with dark skin and long black braided hair. Brown eyes, and a surprising lack of burn marks. Most notably, a lot of these feature are hidden from him being on fire most of the time. The flames hide most of his facial features, lighting up only her eyes, and following with his hair.

They're usual outfit consist of his large deep red and gold robe, golden bracers, his lucky knot, large black boots, and charcoal grey pants underneath. All of her clothing is extremely flame retardant, but not actually fireproof. You could in fact try really hard to light his clothes on fire, but they can put it out quite easily.

Personality

"Everyone thinks I have a fiery temper because, well, duh. I mean they're right but it's rude to assume."

Xeroc has a tough exterior that comes off as almost emotionless, but past that is a very emotional individual. Xeroc usually comes off very stern, and can be difficult to make personal conversation with. Those who know them well can tell you that they're actually a very lively individual, cracking jokes and showing genuine empathy for those around him.

Xeroc is EXTREMELY stern in their beliefs, and will get into heated arguments with anyone who challenges them. His morals are what she considers the most important part about himself, and they will not take any attack on them lightly.

Outside of close friends, Xeroc shows their emotions most helping those in need, or when challenging those he is against. Ultimately, if you want a reaction out of him, be weak, be oppressive, or be "family".

History

Early Life

"We left there for a reason, I hold no connection with that place anymore."

Xeroc spent only a few years living on Eden, his family being socially outcast and nearly being exiled for their practice of magic. Most of their life was spent on Singulon as working class citizens. In the little free time they did have, his family spent it continuing to teach Xeroc some basic practices and get a feel for magic. They picked up fairly quickly, and decently early one developed an "interest" in fire, which was usually kept in check and was HIGHLY discouraged by his family, outside of keeping lights on and food warm. Boring. Being an Aurelian amidst mostly other Ferrans, it was quite difficult to keep up with a curriculum meant for a species that lives around three times longer than you. Basically every day was spent either studying ahead to graduate in a reasonable time, resulted in graduating actually pretty early at the age of 16. Teachings from his family usually consisted of magic, and political awareness, especially regarding why they left Eden. While not the best idea to teach your radical views to your teenager, Xeroc's parents did a good job letting them determine their own view of things. Whenever it lined up where Xeroc and her family had free time simultaneously, they made sure to make the absolute most of it, hanging around and doing whatever magic they could just for the fun of it. With his excellence in school, he was able to get into an academy quite early.

The Singulon Academy for Prestigious Boys and Girls

"They were right to kick me out, but man did that place rock."

Xeroc did just as well in the academy as before, if not better. Most of his time was spent practicing magic now that they had way more resources at their disposal to learn with. He was only there for two years, but in that time, he became close friends with Iridi, Laythe, and Lerinov. The group managed to build up a decent rep for being relative troublemakers. Xeroc may have been be prestigious but she was still 16 and dumb, fire was back on the front end of magic focus. At some point in class, a heated political discussion started to rise between Xeroc and another classmate regarding Aurelian magic beliefs. This argument reached a much more literal heated state, when Xeroc made a counter argument of, "If your technology is so superior to Nullstar magic, counter this," she proceeded to light them on fire briefly. Apparently giving a classmate near full body 1st and 2nd degree burns is grounds for expulsion. It is also ILLEGAL, and they ended up having to go through criminal processing. Thus began a real wakeup call for how things ran. Xeroc kept in touch with the crew over letters after his expulsion.

Storms Before the Catastrophes Before the Calamity

"I take pride in what I did there, you can't change my mind on that. You don't blame the kettle when you let it boil over."

Xeroc was legally processed back home in their family's town. Conviction was slow, inefficient, and being done in such a way that seemed almost intentional in preventing any outcome other than persecution limbo. Eventually they were able to get out pulling some serious strings to argue that he should be charged as a minor, he got off with having to pay the bills of the other student. This process took almost a year. After Xeroc was finally done with the horrific processing of her crime, they decided to start working towards trying to petition and protest some of the policies at play. Time and time again efforts fell flat, and any progress just was met with greater hurdles trying to get past each layer of power.

At a certain point enough was enough, and Xeroc decided that actions are stronger than words. Here he picked up a new name, Xeroc, to act as a symbol and keep her family's identity secret to protect them from being caught in the crossfire of what was to come. Buildings were trashed, people were threatened, but, progress was made. For legal reasons, exact details on what Xeroc and their cohorts did has no documentation and is only known by the people there to witness it, but the streets ran with ash for a period of time. Once the people who were in power and deemed "unfit" were "removed" from power, Xeroc stepped away from the process of appointing new leaders in the local government and establishing new policies. A lot of people were insistent that she take up the mantle but in his own words, "I am merely here to serve as a mouthpiece, a megaphone for the people's voice. If you want to make music you don't grab an amplifier, you grab a guitar."

Some time after their escapades, they received a letter from Laythe asking if they were interested in helping overthrow their family. While the initial reasons Laythe gave didn't pique his interests, some explanation of how they ran things was enough to get Xeroc involved, leading to the formation of the Four Perils of Fortuna.

Trivia!

"Combustible Lemons, what is there not to get?"

  • I have taken SO MUCH inspiration from the Terraria Calamity Mod, color pallete/outfit, name, story elements. I love it so much
  • Xeroc in the calamity mod is someone who took power by force to become the first ever "god" to better all life, sort of. Totally irrelevant to this Xeroc :)
  • The way I've been referring to them with pronouns through the whole page is the same way the song "Like a Weed, Naturally, as a Matter of Course" refers to Testament from guilty gear. Reason being? Funny.
