"I'm mostly fine. It's awfully hot here, but ironically, I'm fine." — Xeroc, over comms after being trapped in the Nether

The Nether is the first neighboring sphere to come within exploration range of Locus Astra. During the Infernal Signal event, the Pathfinders were able to make their way into the Nether and even take down magical barriers keeping them from exploring further out.

Characteristics

The Nether is a hot, harsh, overwhelmingly red-tinted sphere accessible from Locus Astra through obsidian portal gates. It is characterized by intense heat, a stifling atmosphere, and a treacherous landscape dominated by vast lakes of lava. Although it is inhospitable to most, local natives have been discovered, namely the Piglins: pig-like humanoids. The Nether is so similar to mythological depictions of a hellscape that it has earned the social nickname of simply 'Hell', though it doesn't seem to bear any true connection to a hypothetical underworld.

Notable Locations

Ritual Corners

At each of the four corners of the original magical barrier, the Pathfinders discovered what appeared to be fragments of a ritual site. These fragments were instrumental in the efforts to take down said barrier, requiring the Pathfinders to have two individuals staring at certain blocks and the rest snuff out the candles on the ritual. When all the corners were properly validated, the ritual could commence and the barrier came down.

Characters Met / Encountered

Tuph is a friendly Piglin, a hunter who trades various materials from the Nether (as well as valuable blueprints) for gold.

Shay

Shay is a young Aurelian with a sculk tendril growing out of his head, extremely quiet and reserved. Shay was able to make connections with a handful of Pathfinders, and vanished after making off with the nether star that dropped from defeating the Wither.
